Lane Ranch’s El Toro mechanical bucking bull is an authentic El Toro
just like the one that rose to fame in the 1980 blockbuster movie
“Urban Cowboy” starring John Travolta.
Lane Ranch’s El Toro is a
patent from the original designer Joe Turner, who built the first El
Toro bucking bull in 1974 for his rodeo pals to use training to ride
rodeo bulls. After he put it on the market and Gilleys, known as the
largest nightclub in the world bought one, every other club owner
wanted one and Turner became overwhelmed building 20 El Toro mechanical
bucking bulls a month. He sold his company, patent and all, to the
owners of Gilleys – just 11 months before the huge hit “Urban Cowboy”
was released.
Gilleys’ owners then fielded 50 calls a day and
sold the mechanical bulls for $7495 each, a long way from Turner’s
original $2,995 each.
This El Toro bucking bull is one of the
most sought after mechanical bucking bulls because of the accuracy of
the motion of real bucking bulls, something the cowboys of the rodeo
circuit really wanted, and many still use in training.
It is an
original, and it works great! The El Toro mechanical bucking bull comes
with or without bull head and saddle and a full pad is available. Lane Ranch has two mechanical bulls, the El Toro and The Bull, a
newer version mechanical bull with a black and white hide and black
head with horns.
